MOVIE CLUB MEETING: Ainda Estou Aqui [June 5 – 6:30 PM or June 9 – 2:00 PM EST Time]
About This Course
A powerful film about dictatorship, memory, and resilience in Brazil
In this special edition of our Movie Club, we’ll watch and discuss Ainda Estou Aqui — a recent Oscar-winning fiction film based on a true story from the time of Brazil’s military dictatorship.
Set in the 1970s, the movie follows Eunice Paiva, a mother of five whose husband, Rubens, is taken by the military and never returns. As she searches for answers, she must also rebuild her life and raise her children alone. It’s a deeply moving portrayal of grief, silence, resistance — and the strength it takes to keep going.
