Questions students often ask.
Can I join if I am a complete beginner?
Yes. Complete beginners are welcome. The available groups cover different starting points, and we can help you identify the right one before you begin.
What if I already speak some Portuguese?
You can enter at a level that reflects what you can currently understand and communicate. You do not need to begin with Module 1. A trial class can help us recommend the best group.
What happens if I miss a class?
Live classes are recorded and added to the platform. When another compatible group has space, you may also request to attend that group’s session during the same week. Alternative attendance depends on level, topic and availability.
How long is each live class?
Most classes last between 60 and 90 minutes. Some cultural topics may use an extended or double session; those dates are communicated in the course calendar.
Why do you use New York time?
New York is the official reference for every group, which keeps the weekly schedule consistent. The page converts that schedule to your location automatically. Because countries begin and end daylight-saving time on different dates, your corresponding local time can occasionally shift while the official New York time remains unchanged.
Can I change groups later?
When another compatible group has space, we can help you move because of level or schedule. Changes depend on class capacity and where each group is in the curriculum.
Is the course completely online and are the classes live?
Yes. The program is completely online. Your weekly classes are live on Zoom, with a teacher, classmates and native Brazilian facilitators. Classes are also recorded and added to the course platform for review.
What do I study between the live classes?
The exact materials vary by module and week. Guided study may include podcasts, transcripts, Portuguese stories, reading activities, grammar review, pronunciation, vocabulary, Brazilian culture and class recordings. The platform organizes the work by week so you know what to focus on next.
Do you teach Brazilian Portuguese or European Portuguese?
The program teaches Brazilian Portuguese. You learn with Brazilian teachers and facilitators from different regions and backgrounds, so your listening is not limited to a single Brazilian voice or accent.
Can I experience the course before enrolling?
Yes. The free trial takes place inside a real live group class. You can meet the team, experience the teaching and breakout-room format, and receive help choosing your level.
