(October 17, 4:30 pm EST) Special Brazilian Classics Class: A CARTOMANTE, by Machado de Assis
About This Course
It’s hard to believe we’re already in the last months of the year!
As 2025 comes to an end, I want to remind you that we still have a little time to grow, to learn, and to make the most of what’s left of the year — always doing our best within our own reality.
Of course, “doing our best” looks different for everyone. Sometimes life gets busy, sometimes we get sick, or unexpected things happen. What truly matters is that you’ve done what you could with the energy, time, and circumstances you had. And for that, I’m really proud of you.
That said, I’d like to invite you to a few extra activities before the end of the year.
We’ll have a special class to discuss a Brazilian classic. This story has been adapted into more natural and modern Portuguese, since classics are usually quite hard to read. The vocabulary has also been fully explained, so it’s perfect for learners.
Don’t worry — this book is short, more like a short story than a novel. You’ll probably read it in less than 40 minutes, or if you prefer, about 10 minutes a day until the class.
You’ll receive:
-
the pdf of the story
-
the audio version of the story,
-
a podcast where Brazilians discuss the text,
-
and, of course, the full story with explanations.
The books are also available on Amazon, if you prefer
-
the Kindle version or or the physical version

all of the versions include vocabulary, translation, and exercises).
If you can’t attend live because of time zones, you’ll still receive the full material and the class recording, so you won’t miss out on the experience.
The class will take place on October 17, Friday, 4:30 pm EST time
